To exploit a small balcony and give the appearance of a garden, a trick to remember is to play on the smells of plants. In order not to occupy too much space on the ground, the vines are preferred because they can be trellised flat on a wall or against a vertical trellis.
Here is a jasmine, more precisely called Rhyncospermum jasminoides, which has been planted. This variety of jasmine is particularly appreciated for the incredibly sweet smell of flowers that last all summer. In addition, this plant has the advantage of being “persistent”, ie to keep its foliage throughout the year, which is much nicer for a very visible from a balcony apartment.
If you want to play you as the map of fragrant plants, here’s a partial list of our favorites: honeysuckle, Glycine, Wallflower Gardens, Laburnum, Viburnum, Lavender, Helichrysum and if your balcony is facing south, a small citrus blossoms smelled delicious!
Remember to place your fragrant plant next to an area where you can sit for lunch or unfold a lawn chair to enjoy this benefit.
